Trade-Offs

USA Patriot Act is an ellipsis for solidification and unification of America in response to offering the required tools to hindering terrorism and firming national security that is; warrantless eavesdropping on American’s phone calls, police investigations against people who are suspected to be terrorist and secret demand records under the USA Patriot Act.

Freedom –the ability to have the choice is vital in expressing one’s desires without any restrictions. However, terrorism is a menace that invades freedom arousing insecurity. Nobody is guaranteed their liberty if there is room for vulnerability or constant threat.

The need to have security is the task managed by the government, hence provision of the government to have stricter security measures such as wiretapping and the Patriot Act is more essential to tracking down terrorist even if it means to have less liberty amongst the people, to be secure is to be free, to be free is to be secure.

A trade-off is therefore necessary for securing the nation by sacrificing some of our rights and liberty to have a safety living, by allowing the government to violate people’s freedom when necessary partially.

Conclusion

The government should have the ability extensively to provide security and also secure the peoples’ liberty. I agree that greater security must come with less freedom. However, these authorities presented to the government such as airport security, profiling, eavesdropping, and interrogations, when used in the right manner once necessary will have no coercion to freedom.
