Training offers a prime opportunity for employees not only to expand their knowledge but also to improve on the weaknesses. The human resource is in charge of training and development of employees in an organization which includes deciding on the best method of training, the time and the aim of the practice. One of the key benefits that this training offers to an organization is that it improves the performance of employees which then increases productivity since the staff gets motivated (Halsey, 2013). This paper will, therefore, discuss the steps involved in training employees of a management consulting firm as well as the training methods used.
Steps Involved
The first step towards addressing the request for a training program is identifying the training needs and establishing the objectives of the exercise. Training is a massive exercise and most of the times employees are required to be out of work during this period (Halsey, 2013). Therefore, an organization must be able to identify the expectations of the training. Otherwise, it would be a loss if training is conducted and it does not meet the objectives. The other crucial step is the identification of the method of training to be used. There are numerous methods of training available which suit different situations and working environment. Therefore, it is essential to choose a method that would produce the best results.
Methods to Use
In this scenario, the best method of training would be to use a classroom setting for training coupled with some interactive techniques. This method accounts for approximately 42% of the total training hours. The advantage of this method is that it allows for interaction between the trainers and the employees (Buckley & Caple, 2017). As a result, the employees can ask questions and build a relationship with the trainers or mentors. However, a classroom setting is expensive because the employees have to be out of work during the time of training. The interactive methods to be used include the quizzes and small group discussions which ensure that the even the employees interact with each other.
Training Schedule
The training will take one week, and the employees would be required to get to the board room at 8:00 am after which the training would begin. The first three hours would be a classroom session whereby the trainers and mentors teach using projectors or a whiteboard after which the employees will take a fifteen minutes break and resume for an interactive session (Buckley & Caple, 2017). During the interactive session, the employees will be free to ask the mentors questions after which the trainers will give the employees quizzes to ensure rate their understanding on the knowledge delivered coupled with discussions amongst the employees. The training sessions will end at 1:00 pm after which the employees are required to do their official duties until the next day.
How Methods Improved Performance
These training methods will improve the performance of the employees as they will have gained more knowledge in their field and especially in the weak areas identified. Other than that, the training will also address the problems the employees have been having when relating with their clients. Therefore, one of the issues to be solved is the lack of interpersonal skills among the representatives (Buckley & Caple, 2017). As a result, the employees will be able to interact with their clients and avoid offending them.
