I feel it is a difficult task for female correctional officers are allowed to work in male facilities. Women officers are sexually harassed and abused by the prisoners making it a hostile working environment (Owen, 2018).  Most female correctional officers undergo a lot of pressure trying to cope with the constant discrimination from the inmates and officers.This affects them and leads to low morale and limited job satisfaction. Therefore, I think it is not advisable for female correctional officers to work in male facilities due to security reasons.

I feel it is a violation of privacy for female Correctional Officers to work in certain areas of male facilities such as shower area. The lack of discipline by male inmates through increased sexual misconduct, threats of rapeand abuse of female officers is quite high as they regarded as the weaker sex (Sloop, 2016). Reports of intimidation and sexual harassment by male prisoners and officers make it difficult for a female correctional officer to stamp her authority. Women correction officers in male prisons have a limited role based on the working conditions and environment.

Women are not fit for this job, especially when it comes to the use of force involving male inmates. Notably, women are physically weaker than men and would be of little help when in a confrontation with a male inmate. Most of the male inmates do not have respect for female officers and would physically and mentally abuse a woman if given a chance. Indeed, female correctional officers have limited use in male prison because of inmate privacy concerns as they are not able to conduct strip searches (Sloop, 2016). Besides, with such a job, female correctional officers would risk being raped by sexually deprived prisoners. Research studies also show that women are mentally weak and may not be able to handle the pressure that comes with working in a male prison. The male inmate constantly abuse the women correctional officers to making them feel intimidated. Furthermore, women might get emotionally and sexually involved with the patient, thereby compromising their jobs.
