In The Assignment, I would encourage Sarah to accept the lead role she was appointed. Although the marketing campaign encourages drinking, which eventually killed her cousin, it is better that she remains in charge of the project. Firstly, abandoning the activity would be a waste of her God-given talent. The Bible says in 1^st Peter that people should use whatever gift that they have received from God to serve others as faithful servants of God (1 Peter 4:10). That Sarah’s track record was a factor in her getting a promotion attests to the talent that she has. Therefore, she should use her marketing expertise to serve the organization as best she can. Sarah should remind herself that her God-anointed gift is meant to be enjoyed by those around her, which in this case is her place of work.

Again, Sarah should listen to the advice that Lynn gives her. Lynn states that Sarah is best suited for this position as she would use her skills to create a positive impact (Rae and Wong 245). Indeed, Sarah can contribute to the campaign and ensure that it does not encourage drunken behavior as it is dangerous. As the project leader, she can convince the other team members to craft an advertisement that would emphasize the possibility of enjoying oneself without involving alcohol. Sarah is also warned that should the project land into someone else’s hands, they may not be as cautious as she is. From her nature, it seems that she may feel worse for losing the chance. In Romans, the Bible warns that people will stand before God’s judgment seat and give our account before him (Romans 14:10). Sarah should ask herself if she will forgive herself for letting go of the project and above all, the eventual consequences of her action. In view of the effects, it is best for Sarah to retain her position in the project.

Sarah should take her time before making any decision. Given the contradicting nature of the task, Sarah should analyze the implication of her participation in her calling (Rae and Wong 242). The book of Corinthians advises people to examine themselves (1 Corinthians 11:28). Although she does not need to deprive herself of food, Sarah should gauge whether she would be comfortable with the current marketing proposals or if changes should be made. In the self-analysis, she should also figure out the implications of her decision on other members of the team. In fact, the reflection will abate any irrational decisions that Sarah may be tempted to make like abandoning the project. Sarah should first analyze herself before choosing to quit the project altogether.

Sarah must remain headstrong and not give up or give in. By the time she turns to Lynn, it is evident that Sarah is willing to let go of the project. However, she should be reminded that God does not give up on us (Rae and Wong 243). Regardless of the times, we fall short of his glory, he does not abandon us. In like manner, she must not falter in her leadership of the project. Through God’s grace, she will use her cousin’s experience to create a campaign that meets the needs of the organization and fulfills her goals.

Correspondingly, Sarah should maintain her faith in God. In Philippians, God encourages people that they can do all things through him as he is their strength (Phil 4:13). It will not be easy to convince the other team members that they should make changes to the existing marketing strategy. Sarah should share her cousin’s experience and declare her stand without fear. Notably, she will face a lot of criticism for imposing her beliefs. In fact, Sarah would likely be ridiculed and opposed by the team members. However, she should remember the Psalmist’s encouragement that those who know the Lord’s name and put their trust in him, and seek God will not be forsaken (Psalms 9:10). In the wake of a challenging project ahead, Sarah should console herself that God will always watch over her.

Sarah should remember that God will be with her in these deep waters. Many Christian entrepreneurs fear to get into the deep waters because it challenges their beliefs and prompts them out of their comfort zones. However, God promises to be with his Christians in their faith in him (Rae and Wong 240). Sarah should view this job as an opportunity in her life to overcome an obstacle and be a testimony that ethics indeed exist in business with the help of God. God, as he promises in Malachi, will open the floodgates of blessing, when people test him (Malachi 3:10). Sarah should test the faithfulness of God by allowing him to guide her through this project. With the hand of God by her side, she will overcome her concerns about the business and deliver an exemplary project. Again, Sarah should remember that she cannot solve her business problems by running away. The project is just one hurdle among countless that she must navigate through. Henceforth, instead of fearing the project, she should instead focus her energy towards God. Sarah should continuously remind herself that God’s faithfulness will see her through this, and other challenges in her career.

Sarah is obliged to follow the duties accorded to her by the organization. In Ephesians, the Bible states that slaves should be faithful to their masters (Ephesians 6:5). In Sarah’s case, her master is the organization that has employed her. Therefore, she should perform her duties as spelled out by the firm. Failure to do so would constitute a sin, which God will punish her for. Although it makes her uncomfortable,it is better for her to voice out her opinions but not leave the project. Sarah is duty bound by the organization, and she should meet the expectations as spelled out in the Bible.
