For the longest time, the topic of gender inequality has remained to one of the global societal problems. By definition gender inequality can be taken to refer to the differences in status, power, and prestige that exist between both genders; male and female with the societies. Since time immemorial women have always been considered the weak or minority gender compared to their male counterparts. Although gender inequality is still persistent in today’s generation, women are better off today. However, they are still far from being equal to men. Over the past five decades, people have witnessed a shift towards more egalitarian gender roles and attitudes. There is more women involved in politics and informal employment. Feminists, mostly African American men advocate more for women rights. They advocate for equal opportunities for both men and women.
Gender difference and the establishment of sexes have been explained through the primeval mitosis. The primeval mitosis provides that male and female is a result of a split of the predecessor of humans. Since the split, the two sexes have always sought to unite. This urges forms the foundation for heterosexuality. Cleaver asserts sexual identity is marked by class with the omnipotent administrator being the white male. Black males are regarded as the super-masculine menial.
Black women are always considered as invisible. In this sense, to invisible does not mean the superhero kind of way. It means not regarded or appreciated in a socio-cultural way. In most cases, black women are more like to go unnoticed compared to other racial groups. As a result of the increased prejudice and bias towards black women, comments made by black women to a mostly white audience are more likely To go unheard. The consequence of this can have far-reaching effects. However, black women have started to be more vocal are doing anything possible and within their powers to eliminate the prejudice and bias lay against them.
