Colombia is a country in South America. It has a population of greater than 46 million people. Although it is a religious free state, it has shown a slow growth in Christianity influence.Like any other country, mission works have taken place in Colombia. One of the mission teams includes the Alliance missionaries(Flora and other, 1976). The Alliance missionaries entered in Colombia in the year 1923. The Colombian Christian Missionaries Alliance had been organized from 1942. It is surprising how the group has progressed in its objectives. At the date, the group has developed up to 250 Christian churches and quite many preaching points in the country.By now out of the total population of the state 6% are into Christianity. The primary goal of the Colombians Christian Missionaries was to make sure a Colombian head leads all the ministries before their departure in end of 2010(this being the estimated time when the church ministries will be sufficiently strong). These church ministries have brought forth the baptism of 32530 members and the inclusion of 40458 members.
Out of the Alliance, Colombian ministries outreach various other mission projects such as the Emiliani Project sprouted. The Emiliani project is a nonprofit organization. The project started due to the realization that hunger was spreading faster in Colombia. The project is an outreach to orphaned children. The children suffer from various vices such as prostitution, drug abuse, violence, poverty, and starvation. It has proven that within five years there was a 100% rise in children mistreatment in Colombia. Thus, it is the work of the missioners to stay, chat, eat and drink with the children. It brings and gives them a sense of belonging and also makes the children realize there is more to life. It is essential that kids should experience more laughter and love.
Most of these children lack a better chance of education, hygiene and medical care among other essentials.Hence forcing them to turn into prostitution, drug abuse and get involved in illegal gangs. The Emiliani project, on the other hand, proves to change the lives of these orphaned kids. The organization tends to provide healthy and normal lives for these children. The organization works closely with a local charitable foundation (Fundacion Gente Unida) which helps them to build a home at Hogar Bohio de Maria. The organization also runs on donations from other willing well-wishers. Besides, sponsors are also part of the project. Ongoing 14 boys have already acquired sponsorships and later on in 2019 16 boys more were added to the list.
Indeed God has shown miracles in Colombia through the Emiliani’s projects.Children are now getting direct sponsorships and receiving open trips carried out to ensure people spend time with the children. Some teenagers were sent for college studies new home has opened at Hogar de Cristo, and other businesses generating opportunities such as the Emilian coffee sales developed. Lastly, the children can know to go for festivals and trips just like any other children among other achievements.
