Question 1.
Caritas Christi Health Care should be fired since investigations have found and proved that he has been involved in different cases related to sexual harassment. According to the findings given by the investigators, the president has sexually harassed some of his subordinates which in turn violates the company’s policy regarding sexual harassment and has also violated the policies set and controlled by the U.S Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. According to the sexual harassment policy of the company, the president’s actions are contrary to what is expected of him considering the fact that he holds the highest position in leadership and management, and he is, therefore, supposed to be the first one to uphold and enforce the adherence of the company’s laws and code of ethics. Consequently, he should be fired or else he will continue violating the same company policies and also many of his subordinates may continue suffering from sexual harassment unless he punished for his irresponsible behaviour, which will also help to set an example to the rest of the organization’s members who may be tempted to violate against the same policies.
Question 2.
Handling sexual harassment cases is considered to be a complicated process mainly because there are fewer people who want to give witness despite the fact that many companies have already set policies that are meant to protect the personnel from being sexually harassed. Moreover, sexual harassment is defined in various contexts and sometimes employees are unable to successfully define and prove the various types of sexual harassment as defined by the policies. The inability of the individuals to provide adequate evidence related to sexual harassment makes such cases even more complicated. According to Wright & Bean (2013), other factors that may complicate the cases of sexual harassment in an organization include the culture of the company which may make employers to tolerate the behaviour of sexual harassment even when they are able to define and prove it.
Question 3.
Sexual harassment differs in various cases, and as a result, it requires a consistent approach as well as investigation. Quality results related to the cases of sexual harassment are only obtained through a consistent approach and investigation. HRM procedures are expected to be consistent when making decisions related to sexual harassment since it is the responsibility of the human resources department to take care of the welfare of the employees (Wright & Bean, 2013). The lack of a consistent approach makes it easier for victims to continue suffering under the hands of their subjects, who mainly include personnel in the high management ranks as in the case of Caritas Christi Health Care.
