After assessing my skills and progress, I feel that I need to improve more on Calculating statistical tests and draw inferences from the results. In research, different statistical tests are used to draw inferences about different things. It is upon the researcher to decide which tests will be most appropriate for hypothesis testing. The statistical tests depend on type of research question, type of data to be analyzed and the sets of data involved in the study. However, the statistical analysis has to be determined before the study is done. This is where my problem lies. Deciding on the statistical tests without the data is problematic.

My original research topic has not changed but the approach has changed. This is mainly because I learnt that the research question must be in line with the hypothesis. The hypothesis test must be able to make appropriate inferences about the research question. In addition, the sample used must be representative of the population.

I have been using IBM SPSS statistical package for data analyses. It has informed me that there is a difference between qualitative and quantitative research. I have learnt that there are many statistical tests that can be used to make inferences. In addition, I have been able to identify how to present data in tables, graphs and charts.

This course fits into my residency milestone and is on track. I have already acquired relevant knowledge to be able to handle the next residency which I have already registered for. From the knowledge in this course, I will be able to handle relevant parts of my research topic with ease. In addition, I can now be able to draft a research plan.
