Introduction.
Over the last thirty years, child obesity has doubled; in the year 2010 survey done, more than a third of the children in the United States were obese. The high obesity levels are as a result of unhealthy dietary. The review, therefore, is a plan that makes good business sense while meeting the financial concerns of school administrators and the nutritional concerns of parents and dietitians.
The problem
The school lunch program is ineffective; it is contributing to obesity and other nutritional related health problems to the students.
Setting a portable juice bar.
My brother and I have been running an expresso and juice stand in malls, and we would like to expand this into the schools. The plan will be focused on the health of the school environment. Various nutritional standards have been put in place by our district to ensure the nutritional value of all the snarks in our schools, and our plan will observe these standards.
Free space appreciation
Since the school is offering us long term contracts and an open space to run our business, we will be offering 30% of our profit as an appreciation. This is to thank the school for providing a conducive working environment.
Job training opportunities
We will introduce a recruitment program in the school for all the interested students willing to join our dietary program.
Various jobs will be available in our cafeteria, cooking and preparing drinks among many more other tasks.
Dietary analysis
The healthy fruits that we will be offering in our portable juice bar include; health egg muffin cups, cucumber hummus boats, celery sticks. Banana, peanut butter, avocado, and apple slices.
The healthy vegetable juice that we will be providing in our juice bar are; wheatgrass juice, bitter gourd, carrot juice, celery juice, and cucumber juice.
The healthy snacks will be trail mix, yogurt tubes, carrot sticks, whole wheat goldfish crackers, and banana muffins.
We will be providing the above diets because they are nutritionally recommended for the school children.
Assurance to school and parents.
We want to tell our parents and school that all the products sold in our juice bar are nutritionally recommended. They will help in preventing obesity among our children. They will also provide other nutritional benefits such as good health among many more.
Support of farmers and specialty
Our program will benefit not only the school and the children but also the farmers and specialties farming these commodities. We will be buying our food locally from these farmers and also provide these vendors with an opportunity to test the new products.
Implementation
The first step in this phase is creating obesity awareness in the school so that the school fraternity can understand the importance of our meals.
We estimate that within two months we will be able to gain access to fresh food and add education to the learning curriculum.
Evaluation
This is the last step in our plan; this ensures that the school is on the right track with the new lunch program. Officials and inspectors will be visiting the school regularly to check the quality of foods.
