I believe that since I am persistent and hardworking, I will realize my dream of pursuing a higher education in finance/accounts. I am an immigrant, and I would like to utilize the opportunity of living in this country and get a quality education. I would like to make my family proud by becoming the first generation to graduate with a college degree. My personality has made me become a perfectionist. When handling my homework, I do not take chances. I make sure I do it well and prepare for class discussion. I developed the desire to pursue finance after viewing the fascinating world of business, trade, and finance at Pudong district in Shanghai. The environment was flourishing, and I thought of being part of that family. Besides, in Sarasota, there is high demand for accountants, and this motivated me to pursue finance/accounts. Currently, I seek to work as an intern at any accounting firm. I plan on attending language classes so that I can be fluent in Chinese and Spanish. The reason for learning different languages is that in the job market, there is high demand for individuals that are fluent in more than one language.

Additionally, I plan on staying in school after finishing college so that I can earn my CPA. In the future, my greatest desire is to attain a Doctorate in Finance. I would like to use my knowledge to educate my clients on finance management. I plan to attend seminars and talk to people like a financial advisor. Being fluent in many languages will help me talk to people in a language they understand. For those who are scared of financial terminologies and cannot balance their checkbook, the language will help me communicate with them. Similarly, knowing different languages will help to establish trust and credibility with my future clients.

In life, one cannot miss having setbacks. The challenges I have experienced have adversely affected my education, social life, and career. I have a part-time job after school, and this has helped me to settle payments for my car and other expenses; however, I do not find enough time to concentrate on my studies. Since I am busy most of the time, I cannot meet with my friends thus affecting my social life. In school, classes are very challenging. For instance, things that we are thought in calculus class are so complex to the extent that my mother thought I was working on my Chinese homework. Balancing job, school and social life is difficult and sometimes, I feel mentally exhausted. Another challenge is that I spend much time learning Chinese.

I am a dwarf, and I am proud of it. With Achondroplasia condition, my height is 4’2”. Dwarfism has modeled and shaped me to becoming a stronger and more mature person. My condition has motivated me to target new limits and prove to the world that I have the ability to compete with other people. Lastly, I appreciate opportunities your foundation is creating for students who have the desire and right to receive an education.
