Quran is a critical Book in the lives of Muslim faithful. It was revealed to Prophet Muhammad during his 22 years of messenger ship. Muslims believe that Quran is the undisputed word of God and offers guidelines for their daily activities. Unlike other religious books, Quran was never translated into other languages, and thus the Muslims lead their everyday lives in adherence to the teachings of the Book. Islam means submission to the way of God and Quran plays a significant role in ensuring the submission.

On this note, Muslims take the Quran as the supreme law of the land. They believe that the book defines what is good and what is evil. It is, therefore, to understand that the Muslim society use the Quran as a source of law while the law developed by man comes secondary. Besides being the supreme law, the Quran is also essential in defining how Muslims should live correctly (Murata and Chittick). Muslims believe that they should live just like prophet Muhammad. It is, therefore, paramount to understand that the Muslims decide the kind of foodstuffs to eat and what not to eat.

Quran also plays a significant part in the educational life of Muslims. Muslims believes in reciting the holy book, and this makes it necessary to learn Arabic. The increase in religious studies has increased academic pursuit in the field of Quran. The Book also forms the basis for the daily lives of the Muslim faithful. Muslims recite Quran during each of the five daily prayers observed by the faithful. It is also imperative to understand that Quran is significant in defining the Muslim culture (Murata and Chittick). For instance, Muslim art is mainly based on the calligraphy of Quran. In essence, Quran is the word of God and provides cultural, social and ethical standards to the Muslim community.
