A request for proposal is very significant in the vendor selection process to ensure that the systems provided by the vendors meet user and organizational needs. Therefore, the process requires adequate time and the template provided to the vendors should contain complete and accurate information. In our instance, there are two templates, one from the Health Information and Technology and the other on contained in Appendix A of our textbook. The two templates are similar in a variety of ways. Firstly, the two templates include all the necessary information required of both the vendor and institution that needs the health system. In addition, both the request proposals provide for an in-depth analysis of the security features of the system that the facility might need. Besides, according to the two proposals, the system should meet the facilities requirements and should be to the standard of the health facility. However, unlike the proposal in Appendix A, the proposal in the template is much detailed and contains so many specifications of the required health system. Information such as work station requirements for the system is provided in the template and not in Appendix A.

Even though both the proposals provided for most of the required information, some of them of in my perception are unnecessary and therefore needs to be omitted. For instance, the information about the user requirements is unnecessary since the user of the system could change from time to time. Therefore, the system should be designed as per the requirements and standards of the facility and not the user. Besides, the information about the system deficiency analysis is entirely obsolete in a request for proposal in the health system. However, a comparison of the two proposals indicates that some of the information required in one proposal might have been omitted in the other. For instance, additional information such as the timeframe for receiving the product, availability of training options and information on outstanding lawsuits are contained in the request for proposal template and not in the one for Appendix A. besides, information on data protection and licensing is not also available in the Appendix A request for proposal.
