Introduction
Renaissance is a term that is used to describe theperiod in European countries which constituted of a rebirth in the aspects of cultural, artistic, political and economic. This period has been dated to have taken place between the 14th and the 17th century. Several artists existed during this period and were able to bring a difference in the form of art and the work of their portraits. One of the Renaissance artists who stood out during the period was Leonardo Da Vinci. Leonardo da Vinci was born in 1452, in Vinci, Italy. Leonardo at the age of five under the stewardship of his father began to receive education in artistry, writing, and mathematics too. He went on learning new skills in art up until he became a recognized artist. At 20 he had the privilege to join the master artist in Florence’s Guild of Saint Luke(Clark, 2017). This was his turn around and later he was able to start his workshop and became one of the most recognized artists all over the world.
Leonardo da Vinci artistry
Choosing Leonardo as the favorite artist was due to some of the unique work that he was able to accomplish during his life. One of the famous paintings that he is remembered for is that of the MonaLisa. This portrait was of a banker’s wife who appeared to be smiling in a shy way. The form that he used to place the woman in the painting was the pyramid design where she appeared to be calm and simple. The lighting and the geometry of this painting were unique putting in mind that it was in the 15th century making him a legend (Clark, 2017). Leonardo up until today has been nicknamed as the Renaissance man due to the legacy that he left behind.
Da Vinci can be described as the primary person who was able to influence future artists from the renaissance era. He was intellectually able and accompanied this with his talent where he was able to represent human ideas and lessons in terms of drawings and portraits. One of his competitor artists was Michelangelo who in his part was able to draw the human body, and many of his paintings were done on a large scale. One of his famous statutes is the Sistine chapel which is a renowned painting up until today where it is found in different museums.
One of the reasons as to why Leonardo da Vinci is referred to as the Renaissance man is the thirst and dedication that he had in knowledge which was always replicated through his imaginative think in his art. Many historians such as (Cole, 2018), saw da Vinci’s passion in the art as a never-ending affair due to the unique work that he was producing and the consistency that he had in doing so. One of the historians even ones described Leonardo as a superhuman because some of the inventions in paintings that he was able to bring were very orthodox as compared to the times that he was living.
Conclusions
Apart from paintings, Leonardo will also be forever remembered for his discoveries in other fields like engineering, anatomy, geology among others. These are the attributes the made him the stand out renaissance artist of that period. Many young and upcoming artists of the 21st century should draw knowledge and inspiration from artists like Leonardo da Vinci because this can help bring a change and make some impact on society. Many museums today have been able to gather some different works of paintings that belonged to da Vinci where people from different parts of the world to see them.
