Reintegration is the process of integrating an offender back in the society. It is one of the community corrections, and a community correction depends on the extent to which corrections personnel collaborate with community organizations and utilize community resources to facilitate offenders’ satisfactory adjustment to law-abiding behavior (Stojkovic & Lovell, 2013). In other words, the process of integration involves the community and its resources, as well as the corrections personnel. All these three must collaborate for successful results. The main aim of community corrections is to integrate the offender back in the society.  As a correctional aim, reintegration is evident in helping an individual to adjust them to abide by the law and making use of the opportunities that the community has availed (Stojkovic & Lovell, 2013).

An example of a community correction effort that aims to assist in the reintegration process is that of providing an employment opportunity for the offender to enable them to resume their normal roles as students, employees, students or as family members. For example, if an individual was a thief before the reintegration process, they are given a job to do that will ensure that they can fend for themselves and may be their families so that they can stop stealing. However, after they have been given the opportunity, the offenders are supposed to learn how to make use of these opportunities. They are supposed to change their attitude also, and beliefs as the reintegration process continue to help them to be law-abiding citizens. The old beliefs and attitudes will only take them back to the past non-law abiding behavior (McCarthy and McCarthy, 1984).
