This is information collected first hand from sources such as documentaries, literary texts, historical documents, artistic work, and surveys among others. These are original records created at a specified time. Examples of primary sources include journals, newspapers, research studies, speeches and interviews. Secondary sources, on the other hand, are a summary of the primary source. Though not authoritative as the primary source, it provides a broad background and eases the understanding of the subject. The danger with the secondary sources is that it is hard to know whether the summary of the primary source is accurate.  The main example of secondary sources is textbooks.

In their efforts to raise healthy children, parents should first consider their social and medical behaviors. Though some qualities are present at birth due to heredity, some other qualities are caused by the existence in the mother’s womb.  Exposure of the mother to toxic chemicals such as medicine, alcohol and cigarettes can have a permanent psychological or physical effect on the child. Another factor the parents should put first is the environment under which the child is raised. Human beings act and influence their environment but are also influenced by their environment. Such influences include peer influence and culture influence. The social environment shapes the child largely.

Question 3

I perceive moral development stage to be the hardest stage in a person’s development. It is hard to point out at what point a child identifies what is either wrong or bad. In childhood, it is believed that good and bad is based on reward and punishment.  Later in childhood comes on the logical basis that good is what contributes to the harmony of the society. In adulthood, people recognize the real meaning of right and wrong. The problem is at which point does the person develop moral values? Is it from what the parents said, what they saw as children or outside influences? This stage can destroy or mould people’s personality.
