Pruritic Skin

The primary diagnosis of the male student presented in the case study is that the patient has a pruritic skin rash that is making him uncomfortable.  The physical examination by looks shows that the skin of the patient has turned red due to the outbreaks (Nowak & Yeung, 2017). The condition makes it possible for the nurse to identify the healthcare that is required for the patient to get cured.  According to the information presented is that the rashes are spreading through the body and needed treatment.

The differential diagnosis of the disorder of the pruritic skin rash determines the possible complications that can cause the illness.  One of the diagnoses that can be used by a nurse is finding out whether the patient has a chronic renal disease since research shows that many of the patients who suffer from pruritic skin rash are the ones with renal syndrome (David, 2018).  The other differential diagnosis that can be used to determine whether the patient is suffering from pruritic is through diagnosing for the liver diseases since impaired bile secretion can result in the illness. The nurse can use this factor to differentiate the condition from others that are characterized by scales between the fingers. The third differential diagnosis that can be used by a nurse is diagnosing the nervous system. The nervous system failure can also result in arising of the pruritus disorder, and it can be used to determine whether it is the cause of the disease with the male patient presented in the case study.

Physical examination and patient’s health system is essential in diagnosing the patient in that the nurse can relate the diagnosis and the symptoms that show the illness. The history of the patient explains how the disease has come to prevail in the patient (Reamy et al., 2011). Also, physical examination explains in details of the condition and the treatment required treating the disease.

The first type of treatment that can be offered is through an extended dose of long-acting medicines known as antihistamines which are useful in treating pruritus (Reamy et al., 2011). Another treatment that can be applied is the use of a mild moisturizing cream that can be applied after bathing that can help in lessening drying of skin and hence reducing the pruritus disorder.
