New Practice Approaches
It is evident that undertaking my practicum from the postpartum unit at mercy hospital MiamiFlorida has given me a significant opportunity to develop new practice approaches and skills necessary to handle problems in the hospitals. In this case, there are several observations that I made, and one of them is having the new practice approaches in maternity and emergency in such a setting. I have also realized several problems in this unit, the main one being the shortage of nurses. I developed the knowledge needed to manage symptoms and pain in the postpartum unit (Bowles, Dykes, and Demiris, 2015). In a specific sense, I have realized the practical measures that are important a comprehension of the ideas that affect the emergency unit. Other factors such as nutritional intake, mobility, and other body functionalities have been quite useful in this experience (Forman, Jones, and Thistlethwaite, 2014). I have learned a new approach on how to integrate technology into the nursing practice and how it can make the nursing practice more effective and efficient. The need to comprehend practical skills were also realized in this practicum practice where are my former skills have to be enhanced as most of them are invalid in a hospice setting. Other ideas include emotional support that has also proven to be crucial. The other new practice approach that I got was how to manage the obligations of a nurse through daily evolution in putting together the procedures for the experience. I have noticed that knowledge and experience are essential especially when it comes to the technical approach to planning and anticipation.
Interprofessional Collaboration
Interprofessional collaboration is crucial when it comes to the provision of hospital care, and it is a concept that I managed to learn during the practicum. In this scenario, I managed to observe the disciplinary team through the interprofessional collaboration of the nurses, physicians, social therapies and dietitians. Interprofessional collaboration refers to the ability of professionals from different backgrounds to work together to achieve accept objective. In the hospital setting, they are pharmacists, counsellors, and chaplains who can socialize with each other and no more about it other thereby sharing their ideas on how to provide the most efficient and effective patient care (Paul, and Peterson, 2012). My contributions at the postpartum unit at st mercy’s hospital MiamiFlorida was mainly successful because of the interprofessional collaboration. I also noted that different members of the disciplinary team work together to allow improvement or the conditions that were valid. Because each member was punctual, it was easier to share these ideas between the members of the team to determine the best methods that the problem of nurse shortage could be solved. We also realized that through training can be done together so that the nurses can improve on their skills and thereby leading to better delivery of the healthcare services.
Healthcare Delivery and Clinical System
My experience at the postpartum unit at mary’s hospital MiamiFlorida enabled me to have another standing or health care delivery and clinical systems. I realized that there are people who are suffering and it is our role to provide better health care delivery through interdisciplinary methods. The hospital focuses on lifting the physical conditions of the people as well as their psychological and emotional status (Scott, 2017). At the same time, the provided support is also focused on the needs and wishes of the patients changing the dynamics of healthcare delivery. I realize that it is important to take into consideration the demands of the clients and their patients so that their services offered do not necessarily but the provider but satisfy the patient. A clinical system can be within a hospital or at the homes of the patients. I realize that nothing can be done at the patient homes especially through the implementation of the new technologies such as telemedicine. Give these care systems are offered at home; it is the obligation of a clinician to continually check with the patient to realize or not any changes that they are having.
Ethical Considerations in Health Care
When I was undertaking my practicum at post gym unit at st mercy’s hospital MiamiFlorida, I noted that there are numerous concerns within the healthcare system that nurses have to be aware of. Most of these ethics are concerned with end-of-life care and how the nurses have to conduct themselves while delivering the services. Ethical ideas have been evident especially when exercising the care that threatens their patient autonomy. Other ethical considerations include communication and the provision of beneficial care services. Management and how to address institutional problems including nurse shortage are also based on ethical standards that are set by big healthcare professionals. One of the ethical dilemmas is the continuation and discontinuation of treatments that are said to be life-prolonging. There are times that nurses get into ethical dilemmas especially when it comes to life-ending medication and when to let the patient go as a result of their excessive pain. Also noted that through the use of resources and standards, it is important to have ethical consultation through and to gauge the team in a hospice system where there is the need to resolve a problem.
Population Health Concerns
A critical analysis of the patients being attended to within the hospital setting shows the young patients at the postpartum unit at st mercy hospital MiamiFlorida. The population in the hospital include expectant mothers and caretakers as well as the infants. The analysis shows that the people were being attended to mostly needs emergency attendance. This also brings about additional challenges especially if the hospital is suffering from more significant problems including shortage of nurses. Particularly, it was observed that the patients who are wealthier were attended to in a better way when compared to patients who have low income. This also affects other themes such as the end of life and only very few being enrolled in the hospital at the right time.
Health Policy
The closer evolution that was done at the time you need at st mercy hospital MiamiFlorida shows that the physicians who are working in this healthcare setting usually work in conjunction with other attending physicians to determine the best procedures to offer the delivery services. They also work together to determine whether the problem is going to require other interventions. Through the process of collaboration, they make sure that convalescence is obtaining the needed medications that can relieve pain from expectant mothers. Besides their clinical expertise, they give educational materials to the people in regards to the management of emergencies.
The Role of Technology in Improving Health Care Outcomes
When I was working at the postpartum unit at st mercy hospital MiamiFlorida, I managed to notice some of the most effective methods of technologies and innovations that can enhance the provision of services. The hospital has developed numerous landmarks when it comes to technology that has helped killer nations especially those working at emergency you need to give a secure in the faster health service. The use of airways technology, as well as the integration of mobile phones and tablets, is helping the employees in the hospital to pass the information easily among themselves. The family sorrows enlightened on how to make decisions in regards to end-of-life and other critical issues. Technology has significantly aided the identification of the patients who are fit to go to the hospice and those who are not able to do so
.Leadership and Economic Models
Economic stereotypes and leadership models were important while analyzing the situations during my practicum. There are numerous leadership skills that I managed to develop during this period especially the decision making and communication. Communication skills are crucial for a successfulleaderd, and I was able to develop them effectively. I also managed to get the instructions together with the successful application of the collaboration.
Health Disparities
Health disparities are one of the challenges that the community faces. It is a significant idea that I learned and was able to bot at the stmercy hospital. There is a massivedivide when it comes to hospital admission. There are more individuals from the white race more than the black race mainly because of the differences I the economic setup in the society. These inequalities are in many places that have to be addressed in a better way.
