Aerospace Engineering has paved the way for most modern day technologies. It has contributed to the development of stealth, reconnaissance, and commercial aircraft, it’s made revolutionary breakthroughs in both fighter jet and rocket designs including pilot and passenger safety, forever changing the outlook of travel and modern warfare and travel (Prasadand Russel 76). I have always loved aircrafts and had interests in modifying their working mechanisms for improved performance and air safety. The nature of propulsion and the concepts of avionics applied in the building of aircrafts are my main areas interest in aerospace engineering.
It is exceedingly difficult for international students to find a college with the necessary infrastructure for training aerospace engineering in their nations. Thus, University of South Carolina has been teaching the course for a long time and has adequate and modern facilities that can equip me with the best knowledge on the field. Studying aerospace engineering will quench my thirst for understanding the dynamics of how aircrafts work and how they are built. The course will give me a deeper understanding of avionics, solid mechanics and fluid mechanics. These are the main components which are necessary for flight to be successful. Additionally, I will get a chance to put my ideas of aircraft designs and modifications into practice.
The field of aerospace engineering has been continuously changing with innovations being made since the Wright flew the first aircraft (Mertinset al. 5). Current improvements such as Boeing’s new Sonic Cruiser and the Joint Strike Fighter are evidence of the transformations of the aircrafts. Studying Aerospace Engineering at the University of Southern Carolina will give me an opportunity to be part of these milestones. It will be a fulfillment of my dreams as well as a chance to showcase my innovative ideas.
