Technology has helped to improve my life in terms of accessing information since it has become easy to access a significant amount of information in a centralized place, but has affected my communication prospects negatively. Being used to the tendency of communicating through social media and other online platforms, my face-to-face communication skills have become impaired in a way. People, in general, tend to be more comfortable behind the screens than they are in person. This is evidenced by the aspects of cyberbullying that takes place on platforms such as Facebook. Some of the comments that people make on Facebook regarding others would rarely prevail if the communication was in person as I have made this observation with people close to me. I agree with Sherry Turkle that phones have become psychologically powerful since they influence what people do and will often act as a distraction even when it is not appropriate. Sherry Turkle is also on point when she says that people are not having conversations with the age of technology since there is the tendency of trying to put that which they want others to see and not the reality of the matter; that is why people are quick to apply filters in every photo that they upload on social media.
