The movie stars Molly, a 28-year-old woman who has suffered autism since her childhood, and her brother Buck. The main theme portrayed in the film involves autism and the challenges that those affected have to grapple with. In the beginning, the movie portrays Buck as someone who cares little about her autistic sister because he has not kept in contact with her for a long time. All throughout, Molly was under the care of an institution since their mother’s death. The portrayal that autistic children should be kept in children institutions is an abuse to the people suffering from the condition. However, after the institution is closed, Buck has no option but to stay with his sister. The movie portrays autism in bad light as it paints the affected as having disruptive habits and even going to her brother’s office while naked. Towards the end of the movie however, Buck accepts the condition and takes care of his sister even giving her a room in his house.

The film is well versed with the concept of autism and is an important reference point. However, viewers must be very careful not to be influenced negatively on how they view autistic children. The movie is particularly useful as it shows that people with the disability are capable of living a normal life when showered with love. Viewers can end up being empathetic towards affected children and treating them with love.

The movie has given me a better insight and understanding of the condition in full. Moreover, it has led me to accept that autism can affect anyone and is not a reserve for a few. In this regard, I have learnt that autistic people need love and should not therefore be isolated from the society. I have learnt that understanding and empathy are the most important ways of caring for the disabled in society.
