Maqbool came to this earth on 17th of September 1915. He was born in a place called Pandharpur, Maharashtra. He is traced from the family of Gujarat family. He went to the Jamsetjee Jeejebhoy School of Art in a place called Mumbai (Anu, 2009).

When he started his career, he used to paint cinema posters at the place where he studied. For him to earn a little more coins, he ended up working for a toy company where he used to design and come up with toys (Daniel, 2017). When he had time, he used to go to Gujarat to do landscape painting. His development came into place when he started painting Bollywood film industry billboards in the 1930s.

In 1952, he was able to exhibit his first sole in Zurich. Then he had his first USA exhibit in New York 1964 at the India house. The partitioning of India and Pakistan led to the development of the new India art that he specialized in.

In 1966, he was able to be awarded the Padma Shri award.  The next year he won the Golden Bear short film award after his film through the eye of a painter was viewed at the Berlin International Film Festival (Grimes, 2011). He as well got the Padma Bhushan award in 1973. Then he was nominated to Rajya Sabha thirteen years later.  During the year 1991, he got the chance to win the Padma Vibhushan award.

The nudes portraits of Hindu gods and goddesses made him charged with hurting sentiments. In 2008, he became the best-paid painter in entire India. He got varies threat from India. As a result, he used to stay in Doha and London. 2008, he started creating 32 large scale paintings for the India past. However, he died after completing only 8.
