Management in Business

Management is a very vital function in the running of a business organization. It is involved with coordinating the efforts of all the stakeholders with a sole purpose of accomplishing the organizational objectives. The management should provide all the resources required to realize the objectives of the organization efficiently and effectively. The management of an organization should involve planning, organizing, staffing, leading and control activities within the organization (Sekhar, 2011). Management is also highly involved in manipulation of financial, human, natural and technological resources required in achieving the organizational goal.

The manager has several responsibilities bestowed upon him and should strive to ensure that all that is expected of him is realized.  The sole obligation of a manager in any business is getting things done. This involves setting the goals for the organization and setting the mechanisms to ensure that the business is carried out efficiently and effectively. The managers should also ensure that conflict resolutions within the organization are carried out amicably. By ensuring that all these things are fulfilled, the manager is able to ensure that the overall objective of the manager is realized which is ensuring that the organizational goals and objectives are being met or exceeded.

Managers are also expected to have some crucial responsibilities towards the employees in an organization. The primary obligation of the manager to the employees in an organization is to provide financial security to them. The management should always ensure that all the employees in an organization are remunerated for the services offered to the organization. The management should also consider offering other services such as health care and other fiscal issues affecting the employees of the organization (Sekhar, 2011).

The management of a business organization should also ensure that the welfare of the employees in an organization is guaranteed. This may be carried out through initiating dialogue in cases of conflicts within the organization. The management has a responsibility of conveying key information to all the employees in an organization. This makes the working environment conducive and lively for both the management and the employees (Sekhar, 2011). They are also obligated to give an oversight of the entire activities carried out by different employees at different positions within the organization. In essence, all the activities carried out by the management have a great impact on the well being of the employees. It is for this reason that all management functions should strive to ensure that they have the interest of the employees in mind. Management should always hold open sessions to let the employees know that their needs and opinions are greatly valued in an organization.

Managers also have a great responsibility towards the customers in a business organization. The sole obligation of a business organization is to increase profits through available resources. Maximum profits can only be realized if the customers’ needs are met adequately. It is the obligation of the managers to ensure that the customers’ get the goods or services at the point of need. The management should also ensure that the quality of goods or services offered by the business meet the customers’ expectations. The management should also carry out continuous surveys to ensure that the organization has fulfilled the expectations of the customers associated with the organization (Sekhar, 2011).

The management forms the back bone of all the operations in an organization. This is because it is involved in formulating the objectives and goals of the organization and put in place the strategy to achieve them. The primary role of management is getting the job done and this is achieved through the major functions which include: planning, control, organizing, staffing, leading and directing the operations of the organization.
