• The artwork that interested me more in the gallery was Masquerade. This artwork is developed by Leslie Batty.
• I selected Leslie Batty since I have come across some of her artworks in the past. In most of her art works, she tries to tell stories in a way that is not straight forward. Most of her artworks are feminine in nature. They involve women and various activities that they undertake in the day to day life. The message representations in her work are what intrigue me most. Although I might not consider myself as a feminist, I tend to appreciate her work. This particular artwork attracted me as it tried to introduce the trend of the retro. This is based on the vintage car involved in the artwork. The dressing that the woman in the car has also showcases a retro style. Going back in time, this was a period when gender equality was at a low point. Women were viewed as being inferior to men in a greater extent. The artwork could be a representation of how women have come to overcome this predisposition. Women might not be enjoying exactly equal status as men, but there is progress being seen in the recent generation.
• Newspapers and acrylic. The Artist represent the artwork as a way to show that women are not subjected to the general idea of identity and sexuality. It also represents the irony of what we create and invent within context of our society.
• I learned several things about the artist. Leslie Batty is a feminist who has been advocating for equality in most of her works. She tends to explore the ideas of the feminine identity construction. Batty grew up in a family of grade-school teachers and seamstresses. This aspect tends to influence her works in one way or another. To begin with, her paintings have elements of historical narratives, which often depict women is a certain state of alteration. The artworks are ironical on most occasions. This is because they show how women invent themselves under the context of culture and history. The basis of this ironical expression is on how various cultural aspects tend to construct the ideas that we have about our sexuality and identity. The artworks address the ironies eminent on how we invent ourselves based on what the society expects of us.

In these artworks, Batty aims at eradicating gender inequality as she shows that women can also have it all just as men. It is more of an inspiration to women informing them that they have the ability of doing exactly what they think they can without having to rely on what the society expects of them.

• The exhibit was organized in a way that each major work is separated in a different room, and all other sub paintings and artwork are organized based on the subject of the main art. This meant that artworks that were somehow related in the subject manner were found in the same room. This made it easy for the people visiting the gallery to access whatever they wanted with ease.

• Yes, indeed it does. It represents gender inequality. The artwork is trying to create awareness of the inequality that women have been treated with in the past. It is creating an awareness of how women should be treated in a similar way as men in various aspects in life.
