Leaders in the Civil War employed the use of logistics for the successful outcome of military operations; hence, it provides a basic understanding of how modern world organizations apply logistics in their operation. Most disciplines borrow from the logistics involved in the civil war to carry out their activities efficiently. This annotated bibliography, therefore, provides a summary and the evaluation of the scholarly articles.

The article acknowledges the connection between the military organization and the concepts of organization. The information is useful for the management personnel in various organizations; they can practically implement the concepts of logistics. It is also relevant to the topic as it does not only give the impacts of military logistics into modern day organizations.

The author emphasizes that railroads were of significant value as the supplies could move faster in the battlefields. The information relates to the modern business activities in which transport is one of the crucial factors that organizations must address to enhance their performance in a competitive market. However, the article does not mention whether there were other modes of transportation to deliver the necessary supplies to the soldiers in the battlefield. In the modern world, organizations consider a variety of transportation mediums to complete the logistics process.
