Question two
There are various characteristics of the emotional relationships among members in a transnational family. One of them is core-presence, where people long for the existing relationship with other family members. In transnational families, the area of birth of a person is not necessarily the area of burial. As a result, family members in a multinational family have the experience of co-presence. This implies the people in these families have a great desire to be together with their family members. Although they may not be physically together due to the effects of immigration, they are emotionally attracted to each other. They feel that they are still together despite the distance which has physically separated them. Members of transnational families think the presence of their colleagues in their hearts, even though they are in different regions as a result of migration. They still long to meet each other physically and believe that they will unite together in the future.
Another characteristic of emotional relationship in transnational families is the experience of absence and longing. This is even though the members of the family still feel connected to their family members. People long to physically meet with their relatives and share happy moments with them. The physical distance which separates family members makes them have the experience of longing. Their relatives are physically absent from them. As a result, the feeling of longing is still as intense as that of co-experience. Thus, the desire to physically unite with family members is a common characteristic of emotional relationships in transnational families. People tend to be mentally disturbed due to the physical absence of their relatives. They try all means to try to reunite with them.
