How to Make an APA References Page
Start your References on a new, separate page. References are always listed in alphabetical order, are double-spaced, and have a hanging indentation. Indent after first line. Use 12-point Times New Roman font. If there is no author, the reference citation starts with the first word of the article title.
- Citation for a book
Author last name, First initial. (Date of publication). Italicized title. Place of publication: Publishing company.
Example:
Smith, J. (2007). How to succeed in college. Littletown, Ohio: Jones Publishing.
- Citation for an article in a book
Author [of Article] last name, First initial. (Date of Publication). Article title. In [Editor] First Initial. Surname (Ed.), Italicized book title. Place of Publication: Publishing company.
Example:
Shaheen, J. (1988). The media’s image of Arabs. In A. Shine (Ed.), Majlis of the ‘Others.’
Essex, London: Pearson Education.
- Citation for newspaper article found online
Author last name, First initial. (Year, month and day of publication.) Title of newspaper article. Italitized name of newspaper. Retrieved from: website address.

- Citation for a journal article
Author last name, First initial. (Date of publication). Title of article. Italicized title of journal, Volume (Issue), pages.
