Introduction
Globally, good health is everyone’s desire because it keeps one away from being infected by various diseases such as obese and diarrhea to mention a few (Martin et al., 2016). To maintain this, garden fruits are paramount as they contain minimal chemicals which can alter the normal functioning of the human body. For these problems to be curbed, everybody has to help one another in getting healthy foods and also maintaining the health standards required (Stanhope &Lancaster, 2015). Communities have high chances of helping improving themselves like the Colorado members. For this reason, this paper is concerned about discussing the health conditions of various people. The two videos I watched are Colorado Health of 2010 as per youtube link below https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERInZote0EE. ‘Promotoras and Community Health Workers Network’ is the 2nd video retrieved from the http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLaTPplQOWY. The first video’s theme is about healthy foods from the garden. In this, the Promotoras were given the garden to plant vegetables which in turn boosted their health. The fruits were also grown which acts as a supplement to one’s health. In the latter video, the central theme to do away with the problems that are the diseases affecting the community members by identifying them and then going deep to solve them. They have established health centers to help in alleviating the situation.
What health issues and services do the Promotoras in the videos address?
In the first video, the Promotoras are concerned with the type of foods the residents should be taking. They prefer garden outputs such as fruits and vegetables which are necessary for improving the situation of the members. This keeps them free from unhealthy complications as expressed in the video. The second video is concerned with the diseases the community members are suffering. They are the promoting health services to the residents in which two hundred health centers have been established according to the video (Stanhope & Lancaster, 2015). Also, they identify the problem and then goes deep in solving it.
Do you think the Promotoras model is successful? Please explain
From my perspective, the Promotoras model is successful. The reason behind it is because the way they are handling their work is much different as compared to other help organizations. They have unity, and everyone is involved in decision making and research to help unable residents. Besides, they consult each other and find possible solutions to help curb the problem.
Which aspects of community organizing do the Promotora model address?
From their work, it is clear that these people, Promotoras, are trying to emphasize on unity in working as it eases tasks to be done and solves problems at a very high rate compared to individual efforts (Ortega et al., 2015). Another aspect portrayed by Promotora model is the desire to help each other and seeing everyone as important.
What other cultures and what other Healthy People 2020 leading health indicators could this model be used for?
The other cultures portrayed by the Promotoras model are the promotion of high health standards and prevention of high mortality rate caused by unhealthy practices. On the other hand, the health People 2020 leading health indicators which are can be used by this model is easy access to health centers leading to reduction of health complications as the treatment facilities are availed to everyone, having quality environment, and preventing poor clinical service thereby improving the well-being of all citizens (Stanhope & Lancaster, 2015). In summary, the two videos are significant and helpful, and I would recommend it to other health groups as it can boost their knowledge and how they handle their daily activities.
