Q1. Based on my experience with group discussions, I believe that the specific pitfalls of problem groups stem from a lack of explicitness in roles and communication breakdown among group members.

In the group, we will chat through WhatsApp where all members will be added to one group chat to share their views.During the online chatting process, the group leader will always call the quorum and invite every group member to participate in such discussions by sending their messages actively. We expect that the replies given by each member will be relevant to the topic of discussion and will not be targeting any member of the group.

Since face-to-face conversation is also important, all group members will be required to physically meet once a week to discuss and conclude some of the contentious issues that unresolvable through the online platform., and each session will last for two to three hours. A member who comes to the meeting after thirty minutes without prior informing the group members through the group chat that he or she will be late will be considered late and will be fined $10for being late. During the face-to-face meeting, everyone will be required to be physically present or send an apology message requesting to be excused from attending such meeting due to unforeseen events one hour before the starting session of the meeting.

Q6. Group works, minutes, and resolutions will be shared through google docs to enable each member to have a copy of our discussion during these face-to-face meetings and plans of the group.

Q7. As a member of the group, I will be of help in developing powerpoint slides. I also have an in-depth grasp of grammar which will enable me to thoroughly proofread everyone’s work to identify various grammatical mistakes they make and how to avoid them in the future.

Q8. Excellent leadership skills are essential in enhancing peace and order in a group setting by effectively addressing any problem or conflict that may emerge in a group. As a leader of my group, I will deal with conflicts among members by giving each member a chance to say his/her side of the story and allowing other group members to provide the final verdict on what they think should be done to address such conflicts or problems. As a democratic person who is leading a group whose members are of my age, I will have to be consultative and ensure that everyone is given a chance in the decision-making process to make them feel useful in the group. In case of frustrations among members, any member who feels frustrated by how the group operates will be free to initiate such discussions by sending text in the group chat on the matter he/she feels should be addressed. Any issue that frustrates any member of the group will be assumed to be a group issue hence the text sent by the initiator will be perceived as a group text and not an individual text.

Q9. When the group faces two different schools of thoughts, and every side believes that they are correct, it will be useful and necessary to email the professor for his intervention. Also, when the group discusses some of the assignments provided and the group members believe that they have the answers discussed are not correct, we will email the professor before the due date of submitting the work so that he can help us understand how to tackle the questions before submitting our work to him correctly.
