Introduction
Most crimes committed are usually influenced by social, biological and psychological factors. The experiences of a child when young will highly dictate the outcomes of the child in the future. Adverse experience during childhood will result in negativity(Burt & Simons, 2014). Sexually related crimes such as sexual abuse and sexual assault result as a result of trauma among individuals who were traumatized when young. The adverse experience explains this among childhood ages. A child who experiences sexual abuse when a young will be involved in such cases in the future.
Aileen Wuornos was arraigned for the killing of six men. She faced first-degree murder for the six men in different locations. She had experienced adversity during her childhood ages as she was abused sexually and chased out of her private place when she was still a small child. Wuornos had previous forced relationships with many people including her grandfather and also her brother. The violent nature of the grandfather forced the Aileen to go the streets in search of survival means. When she started working as a sex worker for income, she began being involved in assault charges as some of the clients did not just want to pay for the services provided. She also had to defend herself from the men who tried to rape her. This self-defense is what led accidentally lead to the killing of the six men altogether.
Aileen Wuornos background in sexual abuse and violent guardian made her end up in the streets to cater to her needs. However, as a sex worker, she was vulnerable to many risks such as rape from unsuspecting customers. She suffered from depression and anxiety due to her background issuesBaglivio, Wolff & Nelson, 2017). She was initially a sexually abused grill and then ended up in the streets as a sex worker. On the roads, Aileen carried out her standard functionalities of the day until when some men would pick her up and sexually abuse her without any compensation. She had no options but to defend herself from the heinous acts of the men thus leading to the deathof the men in one way or the other
Criminal behaviors involved in the case include murder as Aileen is charged for killing six men and assault alongside misconduct.Aileen was arrested for these charges in the 197os. Other charges in the case of Aileen are also domestic violence where her grandfather would be violent and chase them away from home.
However, these crimes committed by Aileen were due to psychological factors. She experiencedtrauma and depression while a young girl which then affected her into adulthood(Walsh & Yun, 2014). Aileen’s father killedhimself while serving a jail term for molesting a child yet her mother left her without notice. The adverse childhood experiencesquestionnaires scores show that individuals whoexperienced sexual abuse or physical abuse intheirchildhood ages are likely to engage in crime with their romantic partners later in life(Baglivio & Epps, 2016). Wuornos has illustrated this as she had a high ACES score when assessed by the psychologists.
Conclusion
Substantial research shows that the degree of child adversity will affect them in the future. Most crimes of sexual abuse or physical abuse result either form traumatized children of depressed individuals(Wolff & Baglivio, 2017). Theseusually are effects that they inherit from their childhood ages into adulthood. Thus the adverse experience among children is more likely to lead to negative results into the future.
