Introduction

Academic work should be coupled with facts and information that can be verified and has a legitimate source. However, in most scenarios, this is usually not the case as the most sources such as websites have on-authentic information. It’s therefore essential to assess the validity of website information’s to determine which best fit for an academic research paper is. CRAAP analysis (currency, relevance, authority, accuracy and propose) is a way of analyzing the validity of academic source to determine if the article is acceptable for use in an academic setting. This document will provide an assessment of three websites to find out which is the best for an academic research paper using the CRAAP test.

The Nutrition Data

This tests the timelessness of the information. From the nutrition website, is searched for a topic on the healthiest breakfast. The information that I obtained was posted on September12, 2016, by Christine Byrne. This is barely two years plus but the information has not yet been revised or updated irrespective of rampant changes in food engineering and research. Many things have changed and discoveries made hence it’s expected that the information I got might have changed wholly or in combination. The links are functional, and the search tools are effective. However, its website does not match the contents’ currency.

Relevance

The information provided by the article from this website satisfied my need and covered my question perfectly well. The intended audience is adult and vegetarians to be specific. However, the information provided is too advanced and contained extreme details that were not necessary according to my needs. Before I chose this source, I had visited a variety of other sources.

Accuracy

This accesses the reliability, correctness, and truthfulness of the content. The article from the website does not indicate where the information came from. This makes it abet unreliable for academic research as it does not provide evidence to support what it claims to be the best breakfast. From personal knowledge I can’t very fry the information neither am I able to get it from other sources. However, the tone is neutral, and the language is clear and comprehensive. There is no spelling, rammer or typographical errors.

The information from this website is very reliable to my topic and perfects satisfied my needs. The content is rich, and all build on the topic. The target audience for this is college students. The information is moderate; at an appropriate level, comprehensive and straightforward. I would be very comfortable using this source as a source for my research paper. On relevance, the website has important information. Have visited a variety of other sources before settling on this.

The information is also based on facts and not propaganda. However, it’s also coupled with his ideas. The point of view appears objective and impartial as from an organized perspective. There is no personal, institutional religious ideological, cultural or political bias in the article.

Conclusion

From the evaluation of the three websites, the site that is most authentic and credible is the ChooseMyPlate, which is sponsored by the United States Department of Agriculture. This website has accurate, current, relevant and purposive. The information is also based on facts hence it can be termed as knowledge. The information from Nutrition source is not current therefore may not be relevant too while that from Nutrition Data does not only fail to be relevant but also is not based on referenced facts thus can’t be considered as knowledge. I would, therefore, use ChooseMyPlate for my academic research paper.
