Does the moon rotate on its axis?

  1. Does the moon rotate on its axis? Have you ever thought about this? If it does then why do we see the same side of the moon all the time? Explain

The moon orbits the Earth once in 27.322 days, and also the moon takes about 27 days to rotate on its axis. Consequently, the moon does not appear rotating when observed from Earth, a scenario called synchronous rotation.  Therefore observers see the same side of the moon all the time.

  1. Should we go to the moon more often? Possibly to bring precious minerals to Earth to build a human colony in a case of nuclear disaster to set up a military base or to set up a telescope to explore the universe

Colonization of the moon is the deliberate establishment of robotic industries or human habitat on the moon. Moon explorations help scientists to make discoveries that may better and improve life. In the past moon, colonization seemed a prohibitively expensive project to pursue, but recent technological advancement proves otherwise. Therefore setting a base in the moon is advantageous to provide alternative space for life apart from Earth.

  1. Eclipses occur when the sun moon and Earth are aligned. This alignment occurs almost once a month . Then why does the earth not experience a solar or lunar eclipse each month? Explain

The alignment of sun, moon, and earth occur once a month, but the lunar or solar eclipse does not occur each month because the moon’s orbit is tipped by approximately five degrees from Earth’s orbit around the sun. On many months the new moon casts a shadow either below or above the Earth, and this makes solar eclipse rare.
