Introduction
Things are shifting dramatically in the modern world. The lifestyle of today is the opposite of how things cast off before. It owes to the integration of new systems into the present time’s societal life (Walker & Barbara, 6). Some systems are beneficial while others seem to relapse society’s positive influence. As such, this is a basis for the differences in family generations.
Subtopic 1:
Culture attributes towards the differences. From cultural beliefs, music, and customs, much transition has taken place in our generation. Before everybody was straight, nobody had expectations of being spoon fed. Unlike today, the new generation expects everything to be done for them. It affects the day-to-day undertakings in society (Schneider, 35). Technology differentiates the older from younger individuals, as it increasingly influences the loss of physical communication. Despite its benefits, it makes the newer generation lazy when it comes to practical work. Fashion too is a factor in the distinction, as there is no longer any decency in the kind of dressing of today, unlike before.
Subtopic 2:
In the split between different generations and families, the formal ages have a role to play in ensuring the inclusivity of all. Hence, the official age needs to understand the significance of familiarizing with every tension occurring across the generations (Walker & Barbara, 56). It includes illustrating to the younger generation the importance of attributing respect to the elderly at a workplace, irrespective of class and social status.
Subtopic 3:
As a counselor, I have to do my best to accommodate the different value perspectives among two family members in feud regarding the modern and old values. In this case, I would use a workplace set-up, in which a younger generation happens to be a senior officer. Since the workplace is a mixture of different ages, the senior official should equally abide by his employees just like he does to the customers (Schneider, 112). I would tell them that both the old and modern values collectively, would put something on the table. It is thus necessary to acknowledge every generation.
