My impression of Dewey’s Philosophy of education and vocational education
I believe that John Dewey is one of the most outstanding philosophers who made notable enhancements in education in the twentieth century. Wanacott affirms that Dewey was focused on defending pragmatism, a perception that rejected power and epistemology of the current perspective of adopting different methodologies in ensuring that learning was dependent on dynamic adjustments created by human beings as a result of their immediate environment (Wanacott, 2003). Additionally, Dewey focused on various social problems like great notoriety being a reporter of his era. John Dewey delved deeper into vocational education by creating hypotheses using his rational thoughts which indicate how conceptual views and opinions operate on a daily basis. Dewey notes that children should not be left to wander without a sense of guidance or direction (Wanacott, 2003). Dewey stressed hands-on learning in schools as compared to authoritarian strategies in education which were not effective. In addition to that, Dewey argued that a child’s interest should be encouraged and controlled by the instructor or educator with a continuing objective and purpose in mind. Furthermore, Dewey suggested that complex communities needed intricate systems that enabled a smooth transfer of knowledge from an educator to children.

Dewey strongly believed that educational facilities had a responsibility of reflecting the community. This is because as a philosopher, Dewey felt that children required a strong foundation in education which could be issued by skilled educators to enhance their academic progression into society (Wanacott, 2003). Educational facilities ought to equip children with different sub-structure to ensure that they can assume essential roles in the community. By doing so, Dewey believed that educational facilities were providing that children were in a position to use their powerful minds and creativity to impact the society. Dewey was focused on ensuring that educational facilities were in a position to urge human beings to achieve their potential through education. At the same time, Dewey argued that students should also cultivate their skills, attitudes, and habits which were relevant in tackling different issues experience through the pursuit of quality education.
I believe that Progressive education plays a vital role in the success of democracy because it ensures that people are in a position to think independently. However, it is essential for individuals to take part in important activities that permit them to use or apply the concepts and ideas learned through education.
