Department of Dermatology
The department of dermatology is concerned with the science of the skin and its disease. Dermatologists study, diagnose, and treat diseases and disorders found on the skin. Some of the most common skin diseases of the skin include acne, rosacea, and solar lentigo. Acne vulgaris is the medical term used for acne (Griffiths et al., 2016). This condition can occur in the form of whiteheads, blackheads, boils, or cysts. Rosacea is another common skin condition that begins with a tendency to flush or blush more efficiently than other people. The redness slowly spreads to the cheeks, nose, chin, and forehead. The types of rosacea include Erythematotelangiectatic, Papulopustular, Phymatous, and Ocular.
When the cause for a skin disorder is not apparent from physical examination and history alone, diagnostic tests are therefore indicated. They include Patch testing, Biopsy, Scrapings, inspection by Wood light, Tzanck testing, andDiascopy (Habif, Chapman, Dinulos, and Zug, 2017). Some of the medicines used to treat skin conditions include: Tretinoin, Beta-hydroxy acid, Hydroquinone, Propecia, and Vaniqa
Department of Cardiology
The department of cardiology includes recognized specialists in cardiovascular medicine, transplant cardiology, structural interventions, heart failure, resuscitation science, electrophysiology, and cardiac imaging (Yusuf et al., 2015). Specialists in this department conduct evaluation and consultation services such as cardiac testing. Diseases that are evaluated include high blood pressure, heart valve problems, coronary artery disease, and also heart failure. Professionals in this field may also specialize in heart diseases that relate to lung diseases such as cardiac sarcoidosis and pulmonary hypertension.
Tests are continuously being developed to understand diseases of the heart o abnormalities. A few of the criteria used to diagnose cardiovascular heart abnormalities include The electrocardiogram to record electrical activities of the heart; the stress test or exercise ECG to monitor the heart as the patient walks the treadmill or pedaling a stationary bike (Topol and Teirstein, 2015). It also helps determine safe levels of exercise after a heart attack or surgery. The echocardiogram is a test that utilizes sound waves to evaluate the chambers, valves, and pumping of the heart. Other criteria include the transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE0, and positron emission tomography scan (PET)
