The dabbawalas are very effective in their business. They achieved a sigma six rating in their operation. Although they deliver tiffins to many different customers, their chances of making an error are one out of six million. This implies that the dabbawalas have been able to decrease the costs of the organization. They focus on customer satisfaction, where they have been able to deliver the right Tiffin to the right client. Hence, they have been in existence for over 100 years; therefore they are effective regarding lean sigma six. They do not include an unnecessary process in the delivery of their tiffins. This implies that it incur minimal expenses, hence making it effective.
In most cases, education affects the success of a business. Additionally, the availability of resources is essential. However, for the example of dabbawalas, this has not been the case. Most of the people in the organization are illiterate and do not apply technology. However, they have been very successful in education. The main reason behind their success despite the lack of resources and training is customer satisfaction. The dabbawalas have been able to satisfy the clients because the chances of the dabbawalas delivering the wrong tiffin are very low.
From the case study of the dabbawalas, I have learned that customer satisfaction is the key to success for any business. Any organization should aim to reduce the cost of operation. Additionally, companies should increase their efficiency to reduce the errors which may affect the quality of services offered to the organization. Thus, in my project, I will focus on accuracy and customer satisfaction to succeed.
