Cyber-attacks on most of the national infrastructures have been on the rise because of the lack of diversity in the implementation of cybersecurity policies. This has made most organization be at of risk of cyber-attacks because the enemies that learn how their programs are run. Although steps are being taken to avert the threats, hackers are also adopting new methods, putting the country’s economy at risk. Due to the nature of threats being witnessed in the national infrastructures, there is a need to adopt diversity to help mitigate the threats. This paper looks at the risks to the country’s national security, their effect on the economy and how diversity can help mitigate them

There has been a reduction in the country’s electric generating capacity, and the efforts by the government to help alleviate the problems,  have been costly because the available resources are usually not enough to solve the problem. This forces the country to direct funds to this purpose, which would have otherwise be used in the provision of other services which are equally important. Similarly, the threats hinder the smooth flow of the supply chain process, thus, affecting the delivery of goods and services. The government can use diverse programs, for instance, the use of data acquisition control and supervisory control would effectively prevent the threats. This can also be aided by cooperating with other countries benefiting from the country’s electricity such as Canada and Mexico

In conclusion, the threats to the country’s infrastructure can effectively be averted through the diversifying cybersecurity programs. The adoption of different programs to prevent a specific risk, ensures that the failure of one of the programs, does not leave a given infrastructure vulnerable to threats. This would help avert threats to the national infrastructure, and consequently the effects that it would have had on the economy
