Clean Air Act is the environmental law that affects my employer at a welding industry. The Clean Air Act has been applied significantly by the federal law to protect the American families and workers. The primary aim of the law is to “reduce the amount of pollution that might otherwise reduce the lifespan of the American population” (Environmental Regulations, n.d). The Clean Air Act was implemented in 1970 in reaction to the enormous amounts of smog that were affecting several cities with the aim of preventing the same problem from occurring in rural areas and more suburban areas.

My employer at a welding company had issues with the Clean Air Act and was fined heavily to civil violations and federal environmental crimes. The company was resisting the legal move from “pollution-heavy fuel to renewable sources as directed by the Clean Air Act” (Laws & Regulations, n.d). The rate of air emission from the premises of the company was exceeding the limit provided by the act, and it was placing the life of the workers and the society in danger. The source of fuel used was not safe, and most employees were often admitted to healthcare centers with breathing problems and other strange conditions. The company was emitting hazardous air pollutants which were not meeting the technology-based standards as addressed in section 112 of the act and they had to face the consequences.

The welding company had to abide by the environmental standards that are set by the Clean Air Act for the state. All the employees had to “conduct operations that avoided the adverse effects on the environment” (Seaquist, 2012). The company had to update their documents which showed that they are staying legally compliant based on the environmental policies. The company held an annual meeting with the employees and shareholders to discuss how to control their emissions. The rate of discharge was reduced significantly through the application of renewable sources of fuel which emitted less hazardous fumes into the atmosphere.
