Childhood paper

My family’s origin is something that I am proud of, am happy to have the privilege of being born in Asia and grew up in the rural areas. I had an opportunity that many kids don’t have privilege; the world has changed where people have migrated to urban centers. Growing up in rural areas is not the same as growing up in urban centers since the environment is entirely different. The rural environment is very conducive for young kinds since one gets to interact with the environment and learn from it. Growing in urban centers, one is restricted to staying in their houses in order to remain safe. There are a lot of dangers in cities that parents worry about before allowing their kids to go out.

Asia is different from other parts of the world in many aspects including terms of the culture of the people. The family set up is also different; people regard families as an essential aspect in life; hence people that do not have families are regarded as an outcast in the society. My family was small and composed of three kids, my brother, sister and myself. My parents were peasants; therefore the only activities that I engaged in as a kid apart from education was helping my parents on the farm. I had the privilege to learn how to grow different types of crops. I was also very serious in my education because I knew it was the only way that I could become successful in life.

I completed my education well and passed in my examinations. Passing my examinations gave me the opportunity to travel to the United States to further my education. I moved to the United States at the age of 18 years. Traveling to the United States to further my studies gave me an opportunity that I could not have gotten if it wasn’t for the scholarship opportunity that I was given for emerging the top student in my school. Traveling to the United States gave me the opportunity to study with other students from across the world and learn from them. Also, I got the chance to live with other people from different backgrounds.

Part A

Having close family members is the best thing, and I enjoy hanging out with them a lot. We have strong relationships as a family, and the strong relationships can be associated with the much time we had spent together since when we were little kids (Lau, 2017). We the kids have a healthy relationship from when we were young kids, our parents emphasized the need of us remaining united as members of one family and helping whoever is in demand among us. Also growing up together we have formed strong friendship relationships. We have faced challenges together as a family and also enjoyed the good times together.

We also have significant others who include our partners, although we are not yet married the partners know other family members that we have including our parents. The significant others are childhood friends that we grew up together with hence we have formed a strong friendship relationship with them. The characteristics and traits that bring us together are that we have similar characteristics in terms of the things that we value(Lau, 2017). Having similar values enables us to enjoy peaceful moments with fewer conflicts. Also, we have known each other for some time; therefore, we know how to get along with each other well. Also, we enjoy similar background since childhood.

I also face challenges interms of traits that am not happy with hence I face challenges while portrays them to other people. The bad characteristics include facing challenges in my language. Having arguments with friends is the best thing ever, but the challenge in communication makes it hard for me to have the arguments. Am looking forward to improving my language skills to the extent that I will not face challenges while talking with my friends.

I don’t face challenges while I am expressing my emotions to others even when I am suffering severe situations that might make me look bad. Am not an emotional person; hence even when being challenged by people concerning emotional things I don’t get emotional to the extent that I am not able to pass on the information(Lau, 2017). I like speaking my mind because I will not have difficulties expressing ideas that represent my stand. Holding back would make me have emotional challenges because I have to keep issues that are hurting.

I consider myself as an extravert, and my personality is that of a person who goes out with friends whenever an opportunity comes. Most of my free time I spent with my friends having a good time. The activities that I like engaging in mostly is playing soccer with friends. I do not face challenges in making friendship relations with new people that I meet. Also, I don’t face challenges in adapting to a new environment and situations, this helped me a lot when I moved to the United States. I had to make new friends and adopt the new environment that I was not used to. Adapting to a new environment and making new friends is challenging but once it was done life becomes more comfortable. This is because people have different personalities and you have to understand them first before you become friends.

I have a personality that is likable by my peers; hence I don’t face challenges while trying to cope with them. I feel that I am a great person based on what I have accomplished so far. The childhood upbringing contributed to making me the person that am proud of. My parents were very strict when it comes to ensuring all kids had the right discipline. My childhood upbringing contributed positively to the person I am today. I’m grateful to my parents for upbringing me well to become the person I am today. The disciple that I got from my childhood has enabled me to relate well with other people that I meet in life.

Part B

My family origin is Shanghai China where my parents used to grow crops in the out scats of the city. My parents were peasants; therefore, they spent most of their time in the fields of farming. My brother is the oldest sibling in the family while my sister is the youngest. The community that my parents come from are Buddhists including my parents. I am also a Buddhist. My family faced economic challenges since none of the parents had formal employment. The economic difficulties affected my up bring because I lacked the resources that I required such as in funding my education.

My childhood was fun and happy since I enjoyed the love of my brother and sister as well as from my parents as well. I enjoyed the games that we prayed with other kids in the village especially soccer. One thing that I would change in my childhood is improving the financial condition of the family. I faced challenges in having essential commodities that I needed such as learning materials. I want to change that scenario.

My parents are permissive, and they did not force us to behave in a particular manner that they thought it was right (Cherry, 2018). Whenever I made mistakes, they used to give users a second chance to change the behavior before being punished. The punishment entailed being denied some privileges like going out with friends. The rules that my parents emphasized is having the discipline that shaped the way live and related to other people. Also, I was taught that it’s the responsibility of the man to be responsible and take care of their families.

We were friends with my parents although not too many close friends, the relationship with parents kept on changing as become older. The relationship is back to normal like it was while I was a young kid. I know the roles that I am supposed to do. My relationship with other siblings is also at best. The peer group that influenced me during my childhood are the childhood friends that we grew up with. They influenced me to love soccer which I still love up to today. My friends back then were my classmates back at school. I choose the peer groups because we come from the same area hence we used to go home together. My family members also shaped me to become the person I am today; they have encouraged me.
