Chapter 7 has focused on ways of obtaining information from different sources. These strategies make it easy to build an argument. The writer has outlined these ways as summarizing, quoting and paraphrasing. I agree with the writer that choosing the method to employ is dependent on the resources involved and the audience being targeted. A good example is how summaries are favorable when it comes to sourcing information from different sources. Paraphrasing, in this case, is not feasible. Developing summaries makes it possible to obtain information from different sources and come up with one resource. It involves taking similar ideas from these resources and putting them down on a single document. This is what the writer has referred to as synthesizing.
The writer also offers good and useful information with regards to avoidance of plagiarism. The moment a writer summarizes, quotes or paraphrases a certain resource, there is a need of acknowledging these sources. Acknowledging the ideas of other people helps avoid plagiarism.
