Reading poems is the most pleasant thing that people enjoy. Some recite a poem for pleasure while others read them for their therapeutic relations which the lines have towards their situation. Generally, poems have a literal meaning that needs to be properly analyzed before the final verdict is made on the poet’s intention of the given piece. For example, in Bradstreet’s poems, the choice of every title for each poem has a meaningful relationship to the reader’s situation. Similarly, the poems are easy to identify and comprehend. The focus of the paper is to discuss important aspects of Bradstreet’s poem, “To My Dear and Loving Husband” and its relationship to the reader’s experiences.
Ann Bradstreet Poem “To My Dear and Loving Husband” is the easiest one with which I can identify the most. This is because the poem is concise and written in mild heroic couplets with a clear focus on family issues as opposed to the others which deal with the men’s subjects such as captains, kings, and wars among others. Similarly, the first lines of the poem contain the famous lines used in the world’s love poetry. The choice of this line at the introductory part attracts the intention of the readers and heightens their focus to the whole poem structures. Additionally, Bradstreet uses straightforward sentiments to reduce the complexities that might be realized in the poetic syntax used. The choice of complex sentences was major to make a graphic illustration of some related key points in poetic lines. She also uses mild illustrations; with her as an example to portray the power of love among the married couple and that every woman has the opportunity to love her husband. She says, “I dare other women to compare their marriages to mine” (Bradstreet 4).
Ann Bradstreet Poem “To My Dear and Loving Husband” and My Love Experience
Every person finds himself or herself in a complicated love circle which is so demandingand requires proper attention from each other. Two people who are so close portrays oneness in love which is very hard to separate. Similarly, in my case, the intimacy that existed between my fiancé and me is a replica of what Bradstreet illustrates inher letter-poem. Every situation in the poem explains my love experience. My fiancé so loved that every time we meet its all fun and joy. Her love was incomparable. As Bradstreet illustrates, “if his wife ever loved any man, then her husband is the man and that if any wife was ever happy with her husband, that wife is the one” (Bradstreet 3).The line is so splendid and explains my real situation.
Additionally, in her poem, Bradstreet continues by explaining the size of her love which cannot be satisfied with a whole river. The mildly erotic illustration shows how love can tear apart different odds, and if one loves then his or her whole body is in the mix (Bradstreet 1). That was my situation, my love towards my fiancé exceeded verbal utterance, and her presence was not only cathartic but also therapeutic to my dwindling condition. She meant a whole world to me.
Moreover, “love cannot be paid back,” Bradstreet uses this line towards the end of her poem to show how precious love is and only heavens can reward one for their exemplary love(Bradstreet 2). These lines vivid described my situation when someone was trying to lure my fiancé with cash. The mission never materials and the man was hugely disappointed.
In conclusion, faith is essential in every relation. For love to continue between two people, the essence of faithfulness must be exercised to keep the flame glow higher. My passion is still active because of remaining faithful to my fiancé. Every person who “preserves” their love for their partners always reap abundance.
