Amnesty international is a nongovernmental organization that focuses on human rights. It has over seven million followers all over the world. Founded in London in 1961, it draws attention to human rights abuses and campaigns for the compliance with international laws and regulations. The main objective of the organization is to research and generate action that ensures that abuse of human rights is prevented and where it is occurring ended. After more than 5o years in operation, the organization has shifted from large office in London to regional offices all over the world (Amnesty international). The organization has adapted technology and uses it to develop tools used by their activists such as mobile apps.

The organization is very capable since it follows a series of steps when handling any issue. First, the organization beliefs that a change in human rights starts with facts. With this, the organization engages in research which is done by experts. It researches on human rights violations by governments and other people worldwide. Ones analysis is done and facts found, the organization then engages in advocacy and lobbying. The facts are used to influence the governments, press and other decision makers to act accordingly. The organization also engages in actions and campaigns (Amnesty international). Through letters, protests and petitions, worldwide campaigners press for capable people to take action and institute some change. The organization is funded by well wishers and donors who see the good work done by the organizations.

The organization is considered a friend since is a voice of the weak. In some countries, the governments have the power to do anything regardless of the human rights violations or failure to follow international laws. There have been cases of presidents promoting wars leading to the death of many citizens especially in Africa. Amnesty international comes in such places to in influence the international community to come to the aid of such countries. In addition, there are other atrocities that occur all over the world which are prohibited by the international laws. Amnesty international comes in to present the facts about such atrocities to enable action.

Hi Nelson, great line of analysis over there, the human rights watch is an international nongovernmental organization that advocates for human rights all over the world. I agree with you that it is a nonprofit human rights organization with approximately 400 staff members around the globe. Human rights professionals, like country experts, lawyers, journalists and academics of diverse backgrounds and nationalities are what make up the staff. It engages in research to get the facts before lobbying and campaigning for anything. It is famous for publishing reports about human rights conditions all over the world. To promote respect for human rights, the organization partners with other organizations such the United Nations and other regional organizations such as the African union. I also agree with you for such an organization would be viewed differently by people. It is a friend to those who are undermined but a foe to those discriminating against others.

Center for International Earth Science Information Network (CIESIN) ensures that information is accessible and ready to use. CIESIN works at the intersection of the social, natural, and information sciences, and specializes in on-line data and information management, spatial data integration and training, and interdisciplinary research related to human interactions in the environment. Essentially, they staff scientists that come from a wide variety of disciplines such as, political science, natural resource management, atmospheric science, and public health to name a few,  and allow them to do research in order to make that research available to the world(CIESIN). This organization is a friend to all people in that it helps government s and making their research results available for use.
