Acropolis is a Greek name that means “The Sacred Rock, the high city”.  It is derived from the words ‘’Akro’’ which means high or extreme and ‘’polis’’ that is translated as ‘’high city’’, or ‘’city on the edge’’ or ‘’ city in the air’’.
