In recent years it has been hard for scientist and medical practitioners to notice the attention media has given to a controversial debate over the abortion pill RU-486 and birth control related issues. This drug was designed to terminate a pregnancy within the period of 40-50 days after conception (Schwarz & Latimer, 2012). Up-to-date consensus has not been reached to agree whether or not it is ethical to permit abortion pills to be accessible to the overall use by the populace.

Conflicting information and disagreements arises due to lack of factual information (Schwarz & Latimer, 2012). Interest groups from all sides have distorted the information to favor their particular agenda. After a survey, it was discovered that many people don’t differentiate RU-486 with morning pills. Most people rely on rumors about the drug.  It is this ignorance that leads to controversy and conflict in the society.

The most important subject about abortion pill is the ethical considerations of the drug approval by organizations like FDA and WHO (Schwarz & Latimer, 2012). The two bodies measure the stipulated arguments or actions are ethical. First, if the drug predisposes any risks to humans. Secondly, if there is a risk is that risk justified.

The difference between pharmaceutical and medical experts viewpoints concerning the drug focuses on the ethics of abortion itself and ethics about the drug which specifically looks at two major polarized groups of pro-choice and pro-life.

Additionally, the disagreement stems much from the differing opinions over definitions and protection of the rights of the involved parties. Unfortunately, these varying opinions irrespective of their ethical justification have the state greatly to make decisions that are controversial in an ethical manner.
