New Approach towards Management

New Approach towards Management

The drastic changes in the business environment are driving so much dynamism within organizations. Indeed, the organization seems to be experiencing a redesign. Several organization environments are changing and thus leading to managers redesigning their organization. These changes have forced the management to focus on trying to change the management approaches so that to fit with the societal trends scientific knowledge, professional roles, and the changing demographic trends. It is evident that these changes are redesigning management roles. While many things are affecting management the cultural, social and situational factors are playing an important role and the changing the model of governance.

One of the social factors that seem to be affecting the management roles in the US is the changing population.  Over the past few years, the country has been experiencing increased life expectancy, higher racial and ethnic diversity and the increase in the participation of women in the workforce. These changes have generated not only new demands for an organization but also offering new opportunities. The social and cultural profiles of the target market might promote changes in strategic management. The management is forced to make strategic orientation in the business so that to realign and account for the demographic and cultural sensitivity. Making such changes is essential especially when a firm is entering into a new market or designing new products that are focused on a market segment (Welford, 2016). It is clear that the social aspects of society are setting the stage on management and decisions making in most firms around the world.

The social, cultural dimension also plays an essential role in designing change and the process of decision making in firms. The social and cultural aspect of society would often include the customer’s moral values and demographic characteristics. The customs of an organization would have an impact on how people interact and the products they consume. These customs would determine the approach that a firm can use to engage with its customers. Besides the demographics characteristics would determine the marketing approach and the products that the firm can sell to the customers. Therefore, as a manager who is skinning to make strategic decisions for the firm, there would always need to focus on these aspects. The social, cultural aspects might often appear as both internal and external aspects in shaping decision making. Internally, these aspects might determine the corporate culture of the firm. For instance, a firm operating in the Asian region will have to make decisions that are in line with the culture of the people in that region (Lopez, 2014). Therefore, the social, cultural dimension forms not only the internal structure of a firm in decision making but also the external environment. It is one of the essential factors that affect how a firm makes decisions.

There is a close relationship that exists between surveillance and control in management. Employers are increasingly becoming cautious of issues related to violence in the workplace, lowered productivity, identity, and property theft, and on job accidents. Taking into account that the cost of litigation is continuously increasing, firms have focused on trying to find ways to minimize the risks. Therefore, many of the employers have taken an active step to monitor the employees at work to reduce misconduct and injuries. However, while doing this; the firm is also faced with the challenges of balancing the privacy expectation of the employees and the business interests. There firm should seek to find common ground to ensure that they can still monitor employees but give them some level of privacy (Clegg et al., 2015). The aspect of surveillance provides the management with room to understand what is happening in the business and thus control issues before they get out of hand.

Leadership and management are an aspect that often seen as being synonymous. Leadership is an essential part of active management. Being part of management exhalent leadership would often seek focus on creating an environment where each employee will get the chance to develop their careers. Leadership is just the ability to influence and driving people in a group to work towards a common goal. The influence might arise from several sources including one that comes from getting a managerial position. For one to be an effective manager, they need to have the personality and the qualities of a good leader. The role of a leader is to start and develop a strategy that can sustain a competitive advantage. For an organization to succeed there should be a combination of sound leadership and management. Therefore, it might be hard for one to separate leadership and management in an organization (Clegg et al., 2015). The two aspects work hand in hand to ensure that there is the success in the business.

Therefore, several changes have shaped management over the past few decades. With the transformation in the cultural practices, the social institutions and the technological space manager are forced to redesign the approaches that they use in making decisions. These changes have necessitated the need for managers to adopt strategies such as surveillance and control to understand the workplace. Besides, it is emerging that the current form of management should focus heavily on the leadership good management should focus on ethical leadership skills. With these approaches, firms are focusing on increasing productivity and reducing on wastage.
