A Critical Review of another Presentation
In this section, I will be critically reviewing a presentation on GNI analysis of the Taiwan Semi-Conductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC’S) offered by another group. Overall, I found the presentation to be persuasive and have clearly illustrated the common features and differences on the business strategies implemented by TSMCS. Primarily, the presentation focused on exemplifying how the company has implemented approaches such as vertical integration, flexible fund allocation, and global strategic alliance in the bid to gain competitive advantage. One of the significant strengths that I identified from the presentation is that it builds a coherent and persuasive argument on the cruciality of global networks on engendering innovations which ultimately allows a firm to acquire a competitive advantage. The theoretical framework adopted in the analysis is suitable and has demonstrated the relationship between the global networks and the innovation of new products. I found the centrality model incorporated in the report to be efficient in delineating the aspects that contribute to the enhancement of innovation performance.
Given that network analysis is becoming an intricate area, I found the presentation to be especially useful in the way that it has connected it with the success of a company’s innovativeness. The group focused on the phenomena of centrality measure of local and global points whereby it offered more insight concerning the most significant nodes in a network. In exemplifying this, the analysis effectively incorporated companies such as Sumsung and Toyota, as examples and found out that Samsung was the most central node meaning that it was in a better position of fostering the explorative performance. The exemplars are significant since I perceive that, by acquiring a high level of centrality, a firm can have a high degree of connectedness enabling it to gain new knowledge useful for innovation as indicated in figure 1 below.

Although the presentation was useful in exemplifying the strategies that TSMC incorporates to acquire a competitive advantage, the analysis is not without limitations. I found the report not to be compelling in the way that it discussed the implications of the nation’s business environment on the TSMC innovation strategies. The report majorly focused on network and centrality and failed to objectively discuss the impacts of local business environment to enable the audience to comprehend the impact that it has on the company’s innovativeness. Therefore, the utilisation of examples from the relevant industries in discussing the effects of the local environment on the innovation strategies of a firm would have made the presentation to be more coherent.
